Construction Documents

During the construction documents phase the design of the project is translated into the language of construction. Plans, sections, elevations and details accurately describe the final design and include dimensions, references and notes. These are the drawings the contractor will use during construction.

Responsibilities/Deliverables
    By owner:
    · completion of product selections
    · approve issue of construction documents to contractor - at
      this time the contractor typically requests multiple sets for
      subcontractors

    By architect:
    · develop and complete construction documents including:
    · plans, exterior elevations and sections dimensioned,
      coordinated and noted
    · site plan noted and dimensioned
    · interior elevations noted, dimensioned and coordinated
    · structural information noted and coordinated in drawings
    · provide builder with construction document sets as needed
      for permit, subcontractors and construction

Phase Completion
    · final construction documentation meeting with owner,
      architect, and contractor to discuss the drawings and to
      communicate any additional decisions that will need to be
      made
    · issue final sets of construction documents
